Image Quality
To run the image Quality tests on your Card:
1. This test is done by chipset, so first know which 3D
chipset you have.
2. Check with Bruce Wilson that no one has already
sent in an image from your particular hardware, and that it already isn't displayed.
If your chipset is already represented here, and you want to take a better one (if
the gamma correction of the image here doesn't match the correction of the others, for
example) contact Bruce.
3. Set up FS98 as if you were going to run the Benchmarks (Instructions are here) with one difference: no not enable cloud thickness effects. Set
your display resolution to 1024x768, full screen.
4. Download the Image situation. Put it in your Pilots
subdirectory of your FS98 directory.
5. Select flight, and use 'image'. It will start paused overlooking ORD. Make
sure you have the default scenery enabled around Chicago. Do not use add-on scenery
for these comparisons.
6. Go to full-screen mode, and press your "Print Screen" button to capture a
screenshot.
7. Open the Paint program built-into Win95, and select paste.
8. Save this image in a bitmap file with the name of the chipset, i.e. voodoo.bmp. You may
use other image file formats, so long as it is uses a non-lossy compression technique
(.gif, .tiff, and .bmp are prefered)
9. Zip the file and mail it to me. Tell me the CPU you ran it on, so that the
displayed frame rate means something.
Thank You!
