SPP Instructions

Here's how it's done (no flight files needed):

1. Start SPP with the default Startup situation (I think this includes the weather, can someone confirm this for me?)
2. Go to Options, unselect AutoComplexity
3. Go to Options/Scenery Graphics... and click on Maximum Detail.
4. In the cockpit view, press Shift-R to display frame rate. The number you see, when it settled down, is FSB1.
5. Go to Airspace/Aitports... and select IAD 1L on the Runway. Press Shift-keypad 9 (look to the right front). This is FSB2.
6. Press Alt-Enter to switch to full-screen. When the frame-rate settled down, this is FSB3.
7. Average the results of FSB1 and FSB2 to get the overall FSB value. It turns out that the 2D nature of SPP eliminates the need for any kind of dynamic test. About the only thing that slows the frame rate is HD access. Very easy to measure.
