SPP99 Instructions

Download the file FSBSPP99.zip here.

The README file contains the balance of the instructions:

This is the FSBench Benchmark test for Sierra's ProPilot99 Flight Simulator.

The tests are in the form of an addition to the Cessna 172P Pilot Operation
Handbook, which you will find in the Flights Tab in the Tutorial section.

PRE-INSTALLATION:
The contents of this zip archive should be unzipped into your ProPilot99
directory, typically C:\Sierra\ProPilot99.

INSTALLATION:
To run the Benchmarks you must first install them. A self-extracting archive
of the files is provided. Double-clicking FSB.exe will unzip the files into
the proper directories. You will be asked for the main ProPilot99 directory.
The default directory is C:\Sierra\ProPilot.

As you unzip the files, you will be asked if you want to overwrite the file
'172P_Contents.txt'. If you have not altered your POH (most have not), then
answer 'Yes'. Ths will modify your Cessna 172P POH to include the Benchmark
tests. The Benchmarks are now installed.

If you have altered the 172P POH, read the instructions below on manual installation.

RUNNING THE BENCHMARKS:
After the Benchmarks have been installed, start SPP99, select the Cessna 172P aircraft
(it is the default aircraft), and open the POH by pressing the 'F3' key. Click on the
Flights tab and scroll down to the FSB Benchmark 1 line and click on it. All instructions
for running the Benchmarks are given there.

---------------------------
MANUAL INSTALLATION OF THE POH:
You should make a backup copy of your '172P_contents.txt' file, and then edit
the Benchmarks entries in by hand.

Below I have included the section of the contents file that you may use to
add to your current 172P POH:

-----cut here------
<172pft13.txt>FSB1: Benchmark 1<>
The first of three Benchmark tests, this part of the Benchmark tests the rendering speed during scenic flight through clouds. This flight describes the setup needed to run all three parts of the Benchmark.

<172pft14.txt>FSB2: Benchmark 2<>
This flight tests the performance of rendering a runway situation, with an exterior view.

<172pft15.txt>FSB3: Benchmark 3<>
The last Benchmark test the rendering rate during an approach to Salt Lake City International. This flight also includes instructions to submit your Benchmark results.
-----cut here-----

If you have already altered the POH you will probably have to change the numbering
used in the file system.

Visit the FSBench site, http://fsbench.bw.ml.org for more information about 3D video for
flight simulation, and for the results of other systems tested using this Benchmark.
