These notes are designed to be used by ab-initio Air Traffic Controllers in their early training stages.

The layout of fundamental phraseologies is the main objective of this manual and good knowledge of the English language on behalf of the trainees is considered a given. However, Greek language is also used in many parts of this site for the Greek reader’?s convenience.

A glossary of often-used terms is included followed by abbreviations most used on frequency and airline callsigns.

It is not possible to cover all circumstances in Air Traffic Control. If involved in a situation not described here the rule is to be clear, pertinent and understandable. Emotional outbursts are not acceptable over the frequency and excessive courtesy should be avoided.

Use of English is highly recommended at all times so all involved parties can understand what is said and have a clear picture of the traffic.
