Amendment to the Letter of Agreement with Nassau FIR
The following text replaces Section 5 of our Letter of Agreement with Nassau FIR. Miami ARTCC controllers will note the changes to the hand-off altitudes and distances for aircraft landing at MYGF (Freeport International) and all other destination airports within Nassau FIR.
- Procedures and Responsibilities of Miami ARTCC
- If no Nassau FIR personnel are available at CTR, APP or DEP, Miami ARTCC will terminate radar service and transfer communications to UNICOM for all aircraft entering the previously agreed to boundaries of Nassau FIR.
- Miami ARTCC will hand-off all traffic landing within Nassau FIR as follows:
- Aircraft landing at MYGF (Freeport Intl) that will enter Nassau FIR from the West will be handed-off at VALLY at an altitude no greater than 6,000 ft.
- Aircraft landing at MYGF (Freeport Intl) that will enter Nassau FIR from the North will be handed-off no less than 10NM from the FIR boundary at an altitude no greater than 11,000 ft.
- All other landing aircraft will be handed-off as follows:
- If a Miami Oceanic controller is not online, aircraft will be handed-off at their assigned cruise altitude prior to crossing the lateral boundary of Nassau FIR.
- If a Miami Oceanic controller is online, aircraft will be handed-off before descending below FL180, no less than 75 miles from the destination of the aircraft
- Miami ARTCC will hand-off all other traffic that will enter Nassau FIR cleared to their requested cruise altitude and on course as filed.
