OpusFSI Release Version 5.22.5 Available

Recommended Posts

Sorry, maybe I raised expectations too much by my use of 'near instant'. For clarification, even if not instant, the support I've received from opus has always been quick and top notch, some of the best I've experienced both in and outside of the flight sim arena :)

The temporary workaround I found was that the camera view needed to be changed. As well as exiting the pan dialog box I changed to VC view and back to external and the LCC controls worked normally. :)

Cheers K

Jay, the LCC can be used to move the eyepoint but the green arrows in the LCC dialog will not work if you have previously assigned these functions over to a gamepad controller.

To stop confusion we are modifying the software so that if an active controller has been allocated (in the Shortcuts - Live Camera Control dialog) then the arrow buttons in the Live Camera Control (LCC) dialog will be greyed out (disabled) if they have been assigned over to GamePad Controller axes. This action is to remind you that you re-assigned these LCC arrow controls and should instead use the GamePad controller for these LCC controls.

OpusFSI Beta Version 4.10.1 is now available for download on our website.

Remember when installing the OpusFSI_v410_Beta.msi file you must uninstall your current version before installing the new version (do not delete your previous \OpusFSI installation folder). After installing please check all the settings in your Configure and Weather dialogues. You can download from http://www.opussoftware.co.uk/opusfsi/downloads.htm

Spy window 'Failed To Establish Link' messages are only displayed once now each time the window is opened instead of being endlessly repeated.

Weather updates when the sim is offline will now update the LWA map position with the specified departure aerodrome's latitude and longitude. On first opening the LWA map the map and aircraft position are now initialised to the last known departure point.

If an active controller has been allocated in the Shortcuts - Live Camera Control dialog then the arrow buttons in the Live Camera Control (LCC) dialog will be greyed out (disabled) if they have been assigned over to GamePad Controller axes. This action is to remind users that they have re-assigned these LCC arrow controls and should instead use the GamePad controller for these LCC controls.

The LCC dialog is now automatically closed whenever the Camera or Panning Sequence Management dialogs are opened. This is to prevent any confusion whenever an inactive LCC dialog remains on the screen. LCC is now disabled during camera view changes (transitions) and whilst running panning sequences.

Smoothed out the coordination of TrackIR and TrackIR Limits with camera changes and the playing of panning sequences.

Cloud associations are now a permanent feature of the Live Weather Engine and not optional.

Regards

Stephen :-)

OpusFSI Beta Version 4.20.0 is now available for download on our website.

Remember when installing the OpusFSI_v420_Beta.msi file you must uninstall your current version before installing the new version (do not delete your previous \OpusFSI installation folder). After installing please check all the settings in your Configure and Weather dialogues. You can download from http://www.opussoftware.co.uk/opusfsi/downloads.htm

Dynamic Wind Control (DWC) modified for gusting and variable surface wind conditions.

New Download GRIB Low Level Data option added to the Weather Download dialog. When set, additional low level wind and temperature forecast data is downloaded from NOAA and processed. This data provides forecasted wind and temperature data for the lower atmospheric region and is used to determine additional zones of turbulent air along with any low level inversions that may effect turbulence and visibilities.

The GRIB text report and the on-screen Lower Atmospheric report have been modified to show the lower level raw GRIB forecast data in addition to the Sim Friendly target data where appropriate.

N.B. The low level visibility layering has yet to be finalised, this upgrade will be incorporated soon in another Beta and will include new Volumetric Fog layering for P3D.

Corrected a problem with the Update Destination and Alt Sites When on Map option in the Weather dialog. Under certain circumstances this option could cause extremely high surface wind speeds to be injected at the Destination and Alternate sites in Gusting conditions.

A problem has been uncovered with OpusFSI Release Version 4.10 and all OpusFSI Betas up to Version 4.20.3.

This problem could effect both Selective Update Mode within the Weather Smoothing dialog, and also the use of the Update Destination and Alt Sites When on Map option in the Weather dialog. These options could previously cause extremely high surface winds to be injected at the Destination and Alternate sites in gusting conditions. The problem has now been corrected and the fix posted as OpusFSI Release Version 4.20.5 and Beta Versions 4.20.4 on our Downloads page.

http://www.opussoftware.co.uk/opusfsi/downloads.htm

Please follow the instructions given in the Announcements below and upgrade your OpusFSI installation.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

OpusFSI Release Version 4.20.5 is now available for download on our website.

Remember when installing the OpusFSI.msi file you must uninstall your current version before installing the new version (do not delete your previous \OpusFSI installation folder or touch your c:\Opus Software folder). After installing please check all the settings in your Configure and Weather dialogues. You can download from http://www.opussoftw...i/downloads.htm

Release version of the current beta ...

OpusFSI Beta Version 4.20.6 is now available for download on our website.

The on screen Destination Weather Report has been changed to list the available runways and elevation in both feet and metres. The information is displayed immediately following the surface wind data. The runways are listed in the preferred order of use based on the current surface wind. This data will also be included in the Local Weather report if that happens to be specified as the Destination. Example report,

2 - Wind 230 at 4 knots (28 16 34 10), Elev 242' (74m)

At the moment, the runway data can only be obtained from the PMDG NAVDATA (read from the SIDSTARS Navigraph text files), the location of the NAVDATA folder must be identified in the Flight Plan Options dialog using the appropriate (FSX or P3D) Browse button (e.g. F:\FSX\PMDG\NAVDATA\).

The Opus SID/STAR report (OpusSidStarReport.txt file) is now re-generated after each weather update.

Regards
Stephen smiley20.gif

P.S.

The above report data will be extended to all specified Alternates.

I will also be looking into providing our own Runways.dat data file containing all the runway data for all aerodromes within the sim. If possible I will also include an OpusFSI_Runways_Template.txt file which you can use to create your own OpusFSI_Runways_Additions.txt.

OpusFSI Beta Version 4.20.7 is now available for download on our website.

The OpusFSI station data is now held in separate data files for the FSX and P3D simulators. These data files also contain all associated Runway and NAV/COM Frequency data. This data is now used instead of the previous reference to the PMDG SIDSTARS files.

The preferred runway list and elevation data is now included in all the Opus on-screen Destination and Alternate Weather Reports.

The LWA geographic maps will now display an aerodrome's available runways, listed in preferred order based on the current surface wind at the station. All associated NAV and COM frequencies are also displayed below the runway information. The LWA information will list all relevant ILS, APP (Approach), TWR (Tower), GND (Ground), COM (Unicom, Multicom, or Flight Information), and ATIS frequencies.

You can now left mouse click within the LWA map display to LOCK the displayed information to the identified station. Once locked, all information within the LWA Info box will be displayed in GREEN. Left click the mouse anywhere within the map display to FREE the mouse and revert back to normal mouse roaming.

The runway and frequency information can be displayed by clicking or hovering over either a displayed Met Station (blue marker balloon) or Aerodrome (white marker balloon).

The Dynamic Wind Control (DWC) will now attempt to update the ambient wind speed and direction more rapidly when there is greater than a 12 knot or 12 degree difference between the desired target and the current data.

OpusFSI Beta Version 4.20.10 is now available for download on our website.

Corrected a problem with the initial LWA Map data loading when the specified departure point in a flight plan is not located at the map's centre.

The Opus Flight Plan OpusFlightReport.txt and OpusFlightReport.rep report files will now list all forecast winds and temperatures for altitude levels FL040 up to FL440 inclusive, at 1000 foot increments.

LWA Map data is now displayed in RED when it is Locked and the current state is indicated in a status text box just below the data box. The status box will also indicate when the LWE is Updating (Yellow), Disabled (Red), or operating in normal Enabled mode.

A LWA Weather Monitor feature has been added. Users can now right click with the mouse over any aerodrome or met station on the LWA Map to display a small LWA Weather Monitor dialog. The dialog displays all known information about the identified station including its lat/lon coordinates, current distance and bearing to the station, all runways (in preferred order of use), all Nav and Com frequencies, and its current weather. The screen positions of the first 8 LWA Monitor dialogs are remembered by the software.

When an LWA Weather Monitor dialog is first opened some of the LWA Map weather data is used to prime the weather data, this is always displayed with a TIME code of 000000. After the weather has been updated by the FSISERVER. the TIME code will revert to the usual DDHHMM format showing the day and time code for any associated METAR.

The LWA Weather Monitor feature will soon be extended to cover all site markers, including all displayed flight plan stations or waypoints. We will also be adding lower and upper wind and temp forecast data from FL040 up to FL440.

Regards
Stephen smiley20.gif

P.S.

You may have to force a new weather update before using the LWA Map.

Live View users must upgrade the software on all client system. You might want to wait until the weekend when I will post the next OpusFSI release version.

Auto Zoom option added to the LWA Map. When set the zoom level will automatically zoom in or out to fit both your aircraft and the destination marker within the map. Clicking on either of the Zoom In or Zoom Out buttons will automatically turn off the Auto Zoom option. In Auto Zoom mode, once the aircraft descends below 100 feet AGL the aircraft is automatically centred on the map and the zoom level changed to either 14, 15, or 16 depending on distance to the airfield marker, this is intended to aid taxiing. The auto zoom is limited to using zoom levels 6 (max auto zoom out limit) through to 16 (fully zoomed in).
