I was one of the first to complain about the PMDG price and I now apologise. Why because they donated the equiv of 320 purchases of the 747 to Katrina victims. When I can afford it I WILL purchase it because of that fact alone.Greedy NO!!!Dennis Waggoner

Ummmm?"And by the way, to get full functionality for the NG you had to spend 80 dollars."?????NG 737 The Next Generation: $39.95PMDG 737 - 800/900 27.95Total: $67.90What am I missing here? Did I leave something out?Granted, still a lot of $$ but it is a lot of models for the price. A case can be made for more than one plane, although I conceed they are all 737's. Everything is somewhat relative and in the eye of the beholder I guess. I balk at the high prices as well, but try to be objective as to why the differences in price may be. (Yea, I know I am rationalizing). To me, assuming suppliers with good reputations for quality products the time involved to master flying the bird can be linked to the time and effort to produce it. Also to me personally, price can be somewhat proportional to this. For example, the Citation X can be mastered in a relatively short time and is at a dandy price (Also one of my favorites and a great product IMHO). By comparison, planes like the PMDG 737's, 747, and the LSD 637-300 are virtually a work in progress in order to gain proficency and also worth a bit more $$ to me.Happy flying:RTH1585368CFI

Tell ya what Capt Sim. If it comes out and receives overall good reviews, Ill give ya $20. If it gets rave reviews and wins awards, $30. Pick me up in a Herc for a few spins around the patch, maybe $50.

I think developers of complex add-ons like this should take a leaf out of X-Planes book and make a time-limited demo available. For those who do not know: you can download a fully functional copy of X-Plane but the joystick will stop working after 6 minutes. If you are going to part with this much money I feel such a demo will really help those people who want to try before they buy.

Listen, if you are in a restaurant and see in the menu some $51 dish which you cant afford, do you start arguing with a waiter and a chief for the "ripoff"? No, you just keep smiling and buy something you canafford. So who gave you the right to discuss the CS menu???

Thoughtful words,...but tell me then,.....Who on earth gave CS the right to ripoff their customers with products which never will be finalized? You know,.."scam" is a word which comes to mind. ;-)Fly safe,Staffan

No, you just keep smiling>and buy something you can>afford. So who gave you the right to discuss the CS menu???Interesting but flawed analogy :-hmmm If that $51 dish is no good, then it is a ripoff, you won't go back and you'll tell all about your bad experience. But thank you for trying to put us in our place anyway :-rollTo get back on track, CS still has a lot of outstanding issues to resolve on their last release, the B707, and have demonstrated a supreme lack of interest in doing so. One just has to look at the B707 overhead panel to see the lack of care. To expect this philosophy to change with the C-130 is very wishful thinking and I have no pitty for those that will run out and buy this the second it's released and found to be lacking to the degree that it is just a Beta release, much the same as the B707 was and is.Cheers,JohnBoeing 727/737 & Lockheed C-130/L-100 Mechanic

It's not just the money; after all, none of us have seen what the final product will be.The disturbing key to all this is the amateur marketing shenanigans that CapSim is doing; I've seen this time and again with some companies/employees. Consistent delay tactics coupled with pronunciamentos regarding the "imminence" of said item or product; the marketing tactic is, in and of itself, a harbinger of doom since bystanders now expect a truly 'finished' product... a flawless one, in fact.If they don't deliver it in near-perfect condition (and, honestly, how can ANY company deliver a complex aircraft that's perfect in all respects at first release), well.... there will be a backlash.Regarding the restaurant analogy: fair point. There's always choice; no one has to buy it given the copious criticism CapSim has received on this and other forums. A caveat emptor is clearly in effect with this release. I hope that CapSim really does deliver a great product, if only to revitalize their reputation; but, again, these 'contests' and 'any day now(!)' announcements aren't the best omen.I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the C-130. After all... it *IS* any day now. :)

I am always amazed at how people are discussing anything (C-130 in this case) which is even not released yet! I would withhold comments till the product IS released. This will be fair.

I prefer to think of this sort of thread as giving Captain Sim fair warning that a lot of people are fed up to the back teeth with their attitude and it that it is costing and will continue to cost them a lot of customers. Will the C130 break the mould set to a small extent with the B727 and a huge extent with the B707? I don't think so personally but we won't know until release. Hopefully they'll read threads like this (there are many around the various sites) and pay attention. Personally, again, I doubt it and this is supported by the price tag information and silly marketing stunts that a lot of people don't believe either. If I was @#%$

Hi,Well I don't care when its released, I'M NOT BUYING IT. CraptainSim Oh sorry CaptainSim allowed me to purchase there B707 piece of trash that has never been fixed, its so bad I removed it from my hard drive.Based on my out of pocket expense with this company, and half finished products. I will discuss anything in regrads to this company even before thier products are released, to keep others from getting left high and dry on a half finished product that if-possible will collect dust on a hard drive.

>I am always amazed at how people are discussing anything>(C-130 in this case) which is even not released yet! I would>withhold comments till the product IS released. This will be>fair. To be fair, I have the beta on my hard drive right now(soon to be removed) and I'm always amazed at how some poeple assume no one is in the know or has a good idea of what's going on. BTW, I've Beta tested the CS 727, Yak, F-104, B707 and now the C-130(now devoting my FREE time to other projects and not the C-130). There is a definite trend towards the Betas being more like Alphas. In my opinion, the C-130 needs several more Beta releases before a release candidate could even be considered which would take several months. To expect a 1 week beta period to clear your product for release when it was clearly not ready for testing is indication of their desires. No proper beta testing should have a time limit if there are certain goals to be met in the software. Not even the Beta team knows what CS wants, as far as functionality, features etc., are concerned. Without goals, you cannot win.Being a C-130/L-100 mechanic allows me to say this...... the real C-130(not J) is not a complicated aircraft overall. The Power Package is what is complcated, more importantly the prop. No FMC, No EICAS, No GPS(later C-130's do), just basic late 40's, early 50's round gauge technology. So you be the judge if it compares to the other $50+ dollar release as far features are concerned. As much as I love the C-130, I wouldn't buy it for that price knowing the lack of after sales support and updates."Caveat Emptor"Cheers,JohnBoeing 727/737 & Lockheed C-130/L-100 Mechanic

"(...) The flight sim world has become a pretty unfriendly place (...)"I agree, Paul. Especially since a couple of years ago Captain Sim informed their dissatisfied customers: "You are betrayers and we, as ex-Soviet military, know how to deal with those". This statement, not only in private emails but also published on their website, contributed greatly to the flightsim world having become a pretty unfriendly place.Be well!Jaap Verduijn.
