It's a problem for everyone Vic. We simply can't use active pause and the autopilot at the same time. Just another example of "stuff" that doesn't work..........Doug

The more I read and think about it, the more I reckon MS said to Asobo "you've reached minimal viable product, you're releasing it in August, outstanding bugs and missing features can be patched in later."

Live Pause is a neat idea that simply hasn't been thought through. People use pause so they can step away, not because they want to build up speed or whatever.

How do you use real pause, so that you can take pictures and zoom about with the drone, but without the plane bobbing around and the airspeed changing?

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

That appears to be as a sunny day, low altitude, VFR flying sim, which probably covers 90% of the MSFS user base, at least from my reading various online sites dedicated to MSFS. A lot of problems seem to stem from the autopilot, which soldiers along quite nicely and then decides to fail in catastrophic fashion. Most of the problems seem fixable to me, so I'm not worried about the long-term viability of MSFS.

I mentioned this on the first page.  Search all commands (not just assigned or essentials) under the keyboard bindings for Pause.  There's two in there besides Active Pause and whatever the label is that's bound to Esc.  I forget the names offhand but I thought it was something like Pause and then Unpause and they were both in the same category as the Active Pause binding.  The "Esc" binding was in a separate category.  Anyway, you need to bind two keys to those unbound commands.  One to pause and one to turn it off.  It will act like the old P key that way (though road traffic still moves oddly).  I used P to pause and ctrl-P to unpause (other modifiers were bound to something I think).  I can try to get a screenshot of the exact commands  if anyone needs it, I just don't have the sim fired up right now.

Ok I fired up the sim and double check.  I was a little off.  "Toggle Active Pause" and "Toggle Pause" which are Pause and Esc by default show up under the "Menu" heading.  The options I mentioned show up under "Miscellaneous" and are titled "Set Pause Off" and "Set Pause On".  Those two will bring back the old "P" functionality basically.

????  Not sure what you're asking?  I posted it because I've seen a lot of people asking how to pause or having problems with pausing over the last week, and it seems like they haven't found those unmapped by default options.  Just wanted to make sure people know they're there and where to find them 🙂

And now that an alternative has been found, I am wondering if this thread is solved.
