Night skies too bright?

Recommended Posts

Is this a setting I'm wrongly using or what?

Have the night skies always been this bright?  It's almost like dusk or dawn in the dead of night.

Approaching Santa Barbara CA - looks pretty cool with the slightly glowing areas in the distance.  But the overall night sky is way too bright.  I feel like the HDR is trying to compensate or something.

The moon was out for sure.... maybe 3/4 full?  Still though it looks almost like daytime from certain angles.  Even with a full moon the sky will be quite dark.  You might get some illumination of the ground below however.

I noticed a difference as well. Attributed it to the moon, but I agree that it is a tad to easy to do VFR at night after the latest update.

Speaking of night lighting, my daughter sent me some pics from a fight she was on last night. She transports organs and flies quite regularly. She's not sure of the city but believes it may be Chattanooga they were over when she snapped those.

What none of the city street lights are big bright white LED ORBs...!!!

Seriously though, I've never seen white lights like depicted in the sim now anywhere when flying and I come in and out of KFLL all the time.

90% of the street lights I've ever seen from the air or in photos are yellow or amber colored...

No moon night in Fernando de Noronha. I had a nasty blackhole effect while doing a flight there some days ago.

Ground lighting and night lighting in general have had many post in various forums.

It is certainly a very subjective topic. Personally I think most of the night lighting is pretty good. There could be some small tweaks perhaps but I think there are way to many other issues to pick apart night lighting at present.
