March 11th, 2021 - Development Update

So most of what I was expecting and hoping for in Update 3 is now pushed off to Summer-Fall 2021 or Fall 2021.  And given they were slated for Update 3?  Then what does that really mean?  I have not ever been invited to participate in an Alpha² program before.

They explained this in the Q&A, the ETA on the snapshot doesn’t mean it will be completely done in that update, just that something will be released.

As far as I am concerned, this Update 3 achieved nothing but push the sim backwards. What did they fix? The Garmins are not fixed. Nothing was fixed. They added some old liveries from FSX that won’t even work with A32NX and contrails that are so poorly implemented, it would be better they were not there. Try flying with a strong crosswind, contrails come out the side of the aircraft.

A great philosophy for Asobo to take to heart: Do it properly or don’t do it.

Hi everyone, first, I love MSFS2020! I hope someone can help. I downloaded update 3. I first moved my community folder

to another drive. Then moved it back after the update. Problem, some planes do not have cockpits. They are missing in about 5 planes that I downloaded freeware liveries.  If I delete these files, will the cockpits come back.
Is there anything I can do to fix without deleting?

king air, diamond 62, a320, Crj, tbm930, b747,?

ideas. Please help.

thank you!

Rich

I feel like this is a better one.

Damed if you do, damed if you don't.

They can do nothing and people will complain that the sim is dead. Or they can do something and people will find a way to complain about it anyway.

It's quite fortunate that we're all different and don't need to share in each other's criticisms, because I am having a blast and can't use anything else.

I have to agree with some of these comments, particularly about concentrating on bug fixing only.

stop wasting resource on VR, and now VR development.

Put world updates to one side and concentrate on core functions, game Engine, weather and aerodynamic systems, complete all stock planes inc tool tips

I also have a feeling that we are now suffering due to the Xbox development, you can bet that MS top brass are applying a lot of heat on Asobo to get this out the door - fingers crossed for Asobo but I do worry for them based on where we are with PC

And I have to disagree with that comment in particular 🙂. I do believe that the VR development is done by a dedicated group, brought on board for just that.

I just want back what I had three days ago which was a perfectly beautiful sim with trees to the horizon and wonderful frame rates that didn't tank every few minutes.

I completely agree, I mean, we expected to see major changes with this update 3. Now they are telling us that release on update xxx means that they will start to work on it from this point.

About small bug, annoyance, we will have to wait 3 month now to see a fix?

They Should have parked it and hired additional staff to work on core functions instead - adding VR prematurely was folly.

I just want a hot key to toggle taxi guidance on and off (and maybe make the arrows a little more palatable).   Doesn't seem like too much to ask.

Given they're refactoring so much stuff tells me that they either hired someone that knows what they're doing or they came to a conclusion they really did p**s poor job in some of the areas. This is good news after all. I'd say in 2 years this thing will be stable and awesome.

I feel your pain. What makes it worse is that contrails were very nicely modeled 15 and 20 years ago...

I recall them saying it was a 10 year project before release.  Wish I could find the video again, but it was a Q&A video with the Asobo team before the release of the game.
