Clouds

Recommended Posts

Is anyone still disappointed with the clouds with all the latest hot fixes?  I just did my first couple flights after the updates and the clouds look horrible.  I thought they fixed this?

They certainly don't seem to look as good as they did before SU5.  The hotfixes seem to have helped a little.

Same as they always were for me.    Spectacular at times.   Mediocre at best other times.

I find they look the worst when the sun is directly overhead, they look too cauliflower and over exposed , the lower the sun the better they become for me.

Still, they are leaps ahead of any of the other sims, I always turn the sharpness off in the post process and the eye adaptation

Those look a lot better than most of what I'm seeing.  What's always been missing is cloud morphology and the dramatic types of cirrus clouds you see in the real world.  I hope they can expand on those.

Still miles away from the cloud variations I see every day when I look out the window, but still sometimes very spectacular!

I think they are very good.  Some colour banding I saw was actually one of those secondary faint rainbows just touching the bottom of the cloud, but I did see some proper colour banding before the latest hotfix.

It anything could be improved, I think they need to look whiter on top when facing the sun, maybe by quite a bit. they do have that grey granulated volcanic ash cloud look to them a lot of the time.
I run high instead of ultra on clouds to alleviate this effect a bit - less granular and more fluffy looking for a start.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

I would be happy with what we had a few months ago, which was pretty good, but they gradually "simplified" the clouds and what we have now is in my opinion pretty unsatisfactory.
