Its a flight simulator not world simulator MS Talk about marine traffic and not aviation traffic. ATC? Weather? Yeah ...cirrus cloud

What is constantly improving is  scenery (biomes, season) Ok ...lighting. They keep improving on what is already above average in the sim.

We need balanced sim ...improve on aviation aspects.

1. Smoothness (performance) - to have illusion  of flight no stutters are allowed

2. Flight modelling -  physics must be believable and restrictive (if you fail to fly properly aircraft falls)

3. Flight environment (not road or sea environment) - ever more variety in the sky affecting flight (no decoration)

4. ATC and Traffic  (you are not alone and you have to pay attention to respecting the rules

5. Aircraft systems

Improve on these aspects and you don't need any "career mode"  props which serve as "boredom killers"  because sim is not challenging (realistic) by itself.

And still we’ve put thousands of dollars in sceneries products for the past decades. I like a lot to fly VFR (more than IFR nowadays) and I am very pleased they are still investing in the global scenery as a whole, without forgetting the other aspects of a flight simulator.

Anyone know if there's a video up yet.  I haven't been able to find one.  I was out during the live stream.

The stream was recorded, the link is in the OP.

Well, I for one am positive after watching that, even though I likely won't be a day one buyer (but I reserve the right to change my mind!). I didn't expect to watch it all, especially as I wasn't watching live, but that gave me the opportunity to watch it at x2 speed.😄

MS & Asobo are never going to please everybody, that's obvious from the responses just here, but things like 3D ground will appeal to the bush flyers even if the tubeliner devotees don't see the point. The flight planner looks amazing, especially for anyone who'd use the option to plan away from their computer, but I suspect the best bit for the majority of people is being able to use it in-cockpit - no more exiting a flight and having to replan an onward leg of a trip. I wish somebody had asked if they will include an option to change aircraft without going back to the menu - surely if it can be done now in dev mode, it ought to be possible to add it to normal operation of the sim?

If they can follow through on everything they're currently promising, it really will be a major upgrade on an already fantastic simulator.

But most of all, I think MS deserve credit for identifying and accepting that there are talented teams and individuals out there who they can work with rather than try to compete against to improve the sim. Partnering with the likes of GAIST and Fabio of FlightControlReplay (after previously doing the same with Working Title) is a smart move - it both presumably gives these people financial gain for their efforts and also simplifies things for simmers (fewer non-integrated apps to have to install and update). 👍

If we're going to have blimps, can we have teeny-tiny players in all the stadiums playing football, baseball, soccer etc please?😊

Funny to see that like the trailer we previously saw, the one catered for the Xbox games showcase. People are also assuming that this livestream is all that’s to come. This is it, nothing more. I really do wonder if people expect asobo to cover every single deep dive in a 1 hour session and if they don’t then they’re clearly ignoring it. Even though they said there will be future deep dives for various topics. I guess it’s better to be word not allowed about it and enjoy being upset I guess.

anyway, the announcements at the livestream as well as the partnerships are extremely exciting and Asobo’s endeavours to actively involve the partners with the game’s development is very pleasant to see. As well as showcases an appreciation for where they falter are more than willing to let more specialised partners take the reigns.

im excited for the upcoming deep dives.

That's not obvious at all.

then why did Jorg answer this way? https://youtu.be/a6riRXgRsCU?t=5374

Wouldn't that have been the perfect time to brag about the supercell/tornado feature as presented in the first trailer?

Seems like the same old song and dance we've seen since the Su7 debacle of the live weather.

ATC - it is never going to get as good as Vatsim. The only thing that is better is if more people used it. I'd rather fly on Vatsim and make a radio calls on Unicom than fly with programmed ATC. One single glitch with programmed ATC and all realism is lost.

Career mode as a prop for boredom because the sim is not complex? We have some pretty complex aircraft if you are willing to invest in them. But no matter how complex the aircraft and sim may be you can always enjoy a reason to fly "career mode".  I am very happy they are developing that side of the sim and at least for myeslf, I am very much looking forward to it.

Nah, could be a million reasons why they didn't want to talk about it. In any case, this is all just speculation - you obviously believe there's an issue/they aren't working on this, others think differently. We'll all find out together over the new few months.

100% agree with this statement. I didn't think they'd ever revamp the replay system.

One challenge they face regards whether they are following the same 3 tier business model for 2024. I make it only 2 (soon to be 1) Premium Deluxe airports which aren't now available as a (better) payware alternative.  Given that we're expected to find those add-ons compatible with 2024, where is the incentive to buy anything above the base sim? Of course, the answer lies with the existing, and new, aircraft and new Premium and Deluxe airports. But the list of candidates for the latter is shrinking. it'll be interesting to see how that aspect develops ahead of launch.

With a WT 737Max announced, they just saved me from buying the PMDG one. No sense in spending the money on that if we get one 4.5 months with the base sim.
