Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Development Update - Live

I doubt it. I think it had to do with preparing for the 777's release.

Potentially 😉

I don’t want to stir the pot or anything, it’s just weird that the sales company is missing one of the most important flight sim events of the year. Anyway, just a thought.

FWIW, this is what RSR said on his latest update today re: FS Expo:
"I hope all of you who have attended FSExpo have enjoyed themselves. We are all sorry to have missed out on the fun, As you can probably guess, it was best to have the core of the team static, in position, and able to support the pending release. We had hoped it wouldn't slide into Expo weekend... but here we are"

hate to nitpick something that isn't actually released yet, but I just noticed that the updated JFK is still outdated. It's missing the Terminal 4 extension.

I'm guessing Gaya based it off outdated imagery.

I wonder if RSR threw a fit because of this and pulled the plug on coming to Vegas.

PMDG made the decision to skip FSExpo many weeks ago because team member schedules did not work to attend. I doubt that they knew at that time that Asobo was planning to offer a MAX

also noticed when rewatching that Jorg said you can land on the ships now. Though I'm not sure if he meant during missions or also the moving AI ones.

Ok so people clearly aren't learning that it makes more sense to assume that MS CAN do something, rather than limiting their possibilities. It makes ZERO sense that WT would introduce charts once then never update them again. No sense at all. In their presentation they said their goal is to take away our dependance on third party sources in that area.

Secondly, why do we think WT would not make it very easy for third party devs like Fenix to quickly integrate the new system with their products? Are we forgetting that WT has made it very easy for devs to make used of all of the work they've done on avionics? Observe the trend, folks. As I said before, I'm looking forward to not having to pay for Navigraph anymore.

But we can use the other also thru mobile/web browser.  I'll give it a chance too, but at this point it's a solution to something i don't have a problem with.

Good job they're not making the game solely for your use then 😁 personally I don't use simbrief or Navigraph so this is a very decent inclusion too the base Sim

Let’s be honest. It’s only a problem for people who use Xbox.

And people like me who don't want to have to pay over 80 Euros to get the service. This helps PC gamers too. Don't get it twisted.

Just watched the Marketplace Expo presentation, interesting graphs and what not. Thought the new UI is ok but it didn't look great, will need to see it up close, thought the decision to use the numbers "2020" and "2024" to differentiate between the two could be improved, like a background colour or something that stands out better.

Dunno what the top right: "Lv14 2.500.000" is all about, wonder if that's a carry over from the main UI🤔

SDK end of September for developers.

I really wish there was an option (desktop app or similar) that we could access the Marketplace without launching the sim.

Clearly, that's Level 14 and 2,500,000 points. You need to be on Level 12 to get buildings at your airports and Level 13 to get peaks on the mountains. Once you have 3,000,000 points, you reach Level 15 and wings appear on your aircraft!😉

It is a game, right?😇

Hopefully this image works, but the short video showing the field with the crop duster where they showed it from a different angle looks amazing.

spacer.png

They mentioned about getting the AI to analyse fields so that they would have one or 20-30 different crops. It all sounds too good to be true 😍

Obviously there is some manual input into the above farm as it is for a mission, but looking in the distance you can imagine how the higher quality ground assets really pushes the visual fidelity to a new level.

What ever the real reason is, I think we'll benefit because with there being a very good default 737 Max, PMDG need to possibly reduce it's price, I'd imagine PMDG have already have a pile of cash  from the already developed and released 737's, and the upcoming 777. Of course it could go the other way and because RSR now expects to sell less Max's, the PMDG version could be more expensive.

If RSR has been angered, if I were him and you've already made a massive profit from your released MSFS aircraft, I'd release the PMDG 737 Max as a gift to the community sort of thing.

It would make PMDG look great and overnight screw MS/AS over having paid the development costs on producing their 737 Max.

I'm late to the party - finally watching the presentation for the first time, but I'm so dang excited. Little things like the visuals for props being modeled vs. canned animations (@ 32:30 in the presentation) are huge. It's interesting - MSFS is in the "uncanny valley" where things already look SO real that shortcomings stick out way more than they ordinarily would. So when you notice that props are just a series of static animations, it temporarily snaps you out of the "suspension of disbelief". The new prop visual is much more realistic - no part of it is canned - and that makes the experience of flying ALL prop aircraft a bit more realistic.

The CFD wake effect from helicopters - amazing. You can call it "eye candy" - but to me modeling physics - both of physical objects and the air around them is the core of what a simulation is. To be able to actually see the effect of wake turbulence on the world around you helps you understand it, learn about it, and experiment with it. They seem to be committed to simulation and emergent effects and outcomes vs. pre-scripted effects and outcomes.

Definitely a lot to look forward to here.
