Microsoft Flight Simulator | City Update 9: Northeastern USA

Recommended Posts

I have all the city updates installed but no World update... I am assuming I can install city updates independently of World updates, right?

Idea is to save space and processing cycles for the aircraft and weather simulation. Also have PG disabled, and sometimes I even turn off Bing 🤪

Assuming that DD's Washington Landmarks stays untouched after this installation and remains the priority? I'm not sure how these city updates work in relation to base sim + City update + 3rd party?

This city update is a glimpse of what we can expect in MSFS 2024. For the first time photogrammetry will not have melted buildings and trees. I believe Microsoft ditched blackshark ai and have now partnered with Vexcel Imaging.

Helisimmer has a nice article on this

Blackshark had nothing to do with Photogrammetry.

As far as DC goes, it works fine with DD KDCA from first glance but I did uninstall DD Washington Landmarks (not sure if you have to or not?).  The new MSFS version looks pretty good to me so will probably keep that for now.

Can you even park a B77W at KDCA?

Not likely. And as I write this, some clown on Vatsim is departing KMIA in a 77W for DCA.

I think there's a confusion here, Blackshark never worked on Photogrammetry. What Blackshark does is working with machine learning techniques to render the 3D world OUTSIDE the areas covered with photogrammetry, AKA they work with the autogen parts of the scenery (houses, buildings, windmills, windturbines), placing the right buildings in the right places.

Nope that's why they have a international airport 30 miles west away in Virginia that flies everything up to 380's.
