  1. Haven't been to the orbx forum in a while. This thread prompted me to read the 2012 Mission Statement. All I can say is, "Who does he think he is"?I only own 6 of there products and after reading that post, I think 6 is enough.Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkJB
  2. Considering that the Mag variation info in the FSX world is over 6 years old, I can see where it might be dififcult to follow a published radial and now it is a bit more clear as to why you might want to help others program the visuals to a FMC.Maybe this might help by hopefully correcting the root problem (the FSX Magnetic variation data)Below is a link that should help update that info. Credit goes to Ryan from PMDG as this link came from his post.http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids.htmlSee if it helps to sync up the published data with FSX after modification. If it does help, then maybe you can spread the word.By the way, thanks for contributing to Vatsim. Without it, I wouldn't be simming.JB
  3. Hey Zach,Considering your a CFI, I'm sure you meant to say, "True airspeed is airspeed corrected for Pressure altitude and temperature". Density altitude as you know, is corrected for both pressure and temp.I don't wanna sound like a jerk correcting you, but I figured you overlooked this (as it's easy to do) and Nate might appreciate the correct info to pass it on at a later date.:)JB
  4. I'm completely onboard with you in regards to the performance of the three models including the streak eagle. My tests were merely just to find some sort of comparison.Knowing that you did the Flight Dynamics to the other Eagle E will also prompt me to buy it in the future. Unfortunately, I won't be adding another Eagle E to my inventory until we see whats gonna happen when the tack Pack SDK gets released.I'm a big fan of your work and hope to fly your updated Caravan engine soon. I am still using the Drag gauge tweak made by another 208 user, that will suffice until you rebuild the 208.FYI, I also purchased the Turbine Malibu and your Flight Dynamics work there is real nice. Looking foreward to the medium turbine twin coming up.JB Do yourself a favor....And don't take any of this personal. Your above quote looks like you may have a vendetta against Milviz and people will find it hard to take your posts seriously if they sense that.Personally, I can sense where you are coming from, others may not. Keeping your posts as constructive as you can is nice. :)JB
  5. Ok, then don't waste your time. I can go back in the thread and read it for myself.. ThanksJB
  6. LOL, good to know I'm still half sane.. I don't think he is attacking Milviz in this post to be honest. The forums here are a really good place to do research and figure out where the best value for your dollar lies. Just make sure to take alot of it with a grain of salt.If Milviz originally stated that they were not interested in the Tack Pack, and then changed their minds, realizing that it made good business sense... Theres nothing wrong with that. Furthermore, by mentioning it in this thread, will inform people of their directions and development plan for the future. This is good for the Sim Community as a whole.Glen's post above seems constructive, as it shows that Milviz is ready to change business strategy to accomidate for the every changing flight sim 3rd party addon market.JB
  7. I posted on the HIFI forums asking if anyone also knew a solution to get better icing effects.Today, one of the avsim members posted a reply on how to modify the ice gauge I was talking about in this thread. His methods to modify the ice gauge will allow one to increase or decrease the threshold at which the gauge starts to simulate serious consequences to structural icing. The thread can be found hereSee post 11 and onwardhttp://forum.avsim.net/topic/359058-icing-feature-request/page__pid__2232768#entry2232768JB
  8. Sorry I didn't see your post.Yes you are correct, you don't need the gauge to show, it's just there for reference. With the gauge hidden anywhere on the panel, it will still affect the FDE.JB
  9. Great,I appreciate you doing this Marc.My Carenado 208 has the RXP 530, 430 all the T gauges and N Gauges with the stec autopilot and it is a blast to fly. As soon as I get a bit of time I will definately install the stec 55x into the Carenado Turbine Malibu.Hopefully I can get into the texture files and darken it up as well. Please keep us up to date on anything interesting you find regarding the install of the RXP stec into the malibu. I know the info will be helpfull to me and others in the future.JB
  10. When I heard about your addon I did as much research as I could and one of the posts somewhere on your forum mentioned that you guys were not going to use the tacpack as you had already implemented the technology that was expected with the tac pack. I even remember other people replying to that particular post.Maybe I am going crazy...... regardless, it is good to hear that you guys are planning to implement the tac pack into the Eagle E and possibly future addons.I wish I had a different impression then as I would have instantly bought your addon. Thanks for the info. It will be very interesting to see the impact the tac pack has on FSX with all the tallented developers coming together on common ground.Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkJB
  11. Sounds good will give it a try when I have time. So did you replace the flight director switch with the RXP one or not? If not does the carenado fd switch work correctly?Maybe the colors can be made darker.Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkJB
  12. Thanks Hook, great stuff.Haven't tried any of this yet, but will hopefully tonight after dinner.JBSent from my iPhone using TapatalkJB
  13. If your on the fence about it...I was as well, but the deciding factor for me was the idea that IRIS is gonna take the tac Pack SDK and finish the planes avionics. I believe Milviz stated that they weren't interested in the Tac Pack and hence were not going to integrate it into the plane in the future.I believe the Tac Pack is gonna be the Beez Knees and as long as the 3rd party SDK enables other devs to integrate it into their addons, then we will have a common ground to be able to shoot each other down with different addons.JB
  14. If you can remember em, the one on the right was Iris I think.JB
  15. I think you might be a little low on approach. :yahoo:JB
  16. Are you talking about the glideslope/glidepath indicator (which I think is white) or the Vnav Path indicator (Which is Purple/Magenta)?JB
  17. I can only assume you also looked in the VC window? Or the VC panel entries?Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkJB
  18. ThanksWill definately give it a try... Thats exactly what I was looking for.JB
  19. True simulation of the stec 55. Which has cws mode.Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkJB
  20. Excellent idea... I have tried FSCaptain and it's nicely done, but unfortunately I'm not interested at all in the other features other than the Hazard pack.I wish there was a way to only get the hazard pack installed, without all the extra bloat of the rest of the application.FSCaptain also simulates Engine ice acumulation that will cause a flameout. Interesting, not sure how that feature wprks with the NGX as PMDG has specifically coded flameouts to cause auto relight.JB
  21. I have been playing around with a neat little freeware addon gauge that can be found at avsim. It adds a bit more icing effects and other consequences to flying through icing conditions with AI off or failed.it's simply called "ice gauge" and can be found in the avsim library. It works well with the NGX (although some of it's added features are ignored by the NGX). If placed correctly in the NGX panel it does not effect the normal functionality and features of the NGX.JB
  22. As Ryan stated....The published Visual approaches are published to aid ATC in flow control. You are expected to fly it via visual reference, as by accepting the clearance for the visual you are letting ATC know you can see the field and maintain visual traffic seperation and clear of clouds. If you look at the Tip Toe appreaoch into KSFO you will see the plate has visual reference to landmarks and geography (unlike non visual approach plates). The Nav aid references could and probably should be refrerenced from the VOR radios using the RMI or the course lines depicted on the map/ND display, and this is to just backup your position already established through visual means. If in RL your Flight Crew saw you attempting to program a visual approach into the FMC, they would probably laugh and then ask you for the controls. Then again, this is a sim and you are able to do whatever you want to make your experience more enjoyable :)If you really want to program the published visuals, then open skyvector and goto the sectional or terminal chart and drop some flightplan waypoints over the visual refrences noted from the plate. Then enter the waypoint coordinates taken from the skyvector waypoints into the FMC.JB
  23. I guess I can look into it.To Carenado...Any chance you guys might consider updating the Jetprop to allow for swapout of the stec for the RXP stec like you guys have done with the GNS's?JB
