Need advice on first payware single and twin
MariuszDW replied to cckeating's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
I'm new to x-plane, bought it a week ago. So far I liked freeware: DR400-140B Staggerwing940 Eclipse 550 from Aerobask. Yesterday I bought their Pipistrel Panthera. Beautiful airplane with nice features -
nvm, this plane doesn't have wipers
-
I'm a bit confused. Does this addon have rain effects, working wipers, like b200? This video shows droplets, but I didn't see wipers clearing the windshield.

DoveTail Games Buys Licensing Deal with Microsoft

Seems like default download is KSEA demo. Rest of the world is in optional (free) packages. -

I think FSX is safe. They don't have permission to modify it. I bought FSX Gold on GFWL and it was just delivery service. No connection to Live account (except download and installation), no logon. Standard activation at first program start and that's it. You could uninstall GFWL, FSX doesn't need it. They just want to bring more people to flight simulation and for their upcoming product. -
Prepar3D v2.2 I give up. Refund requested.

I also had problems with free space on C drive. I modified user variables TEMP and TMP to point to a directory on different drive. After system restart, installation went fine. -

I have FSX Gold bought on GFWL. It was like 10GB download, not a big deal. -
P3Dv2 with DX11 on AMD is way faster than FSX with FX9 (at least on my R290). DX10 in FSX is also faster and smoother than DX9, but is unusable from some time (for me since Windows 8 update to 8.1 and new drivers) I don't care about old drivers, new 14.4 gave me huge boost in DCS: World and new graphics engine is around the corner.

You will get a mixed package of aircrafts with non-clickable VC F-15C: DCS Flaming Cliffs A-10A: DCS Flaming Cliffs Su-25: DCS Flaming Cliffs Those are sold separately, but are also part of whole package "DCS: Flaming Cliffs 3" More less on the level of SU-25T (slightly better - AFM+/PFM). And a bunch of older models Mig-29, Su-27, Su-33 with SFM (crappy flight model). Su-27 and Su-33 have refreshed models and VC (like Su-25A/T) Su-27 soon will get AFM, it's in development from some time. If you want study sim with complex flight model and fully clickable VC, get yourself a chopper or DCS: A-10C Warthog

The difference between the Pay and Free versions of the Frogfoot

It is says here, they have AFM. -
A-10C (not "10A") has the best value for the money. You won't get Nevada map for free. It was for beta purchasers Ka-50 is awesome, but it won't give you experience of flying a classic helicopter (coaxial rotors), and It's supposed to fly itself, so the pilot has the time to manage weapon systems. It requires some learning about autopilot and trimming. The best choice to start with choppers is Huey. Nimble iconic chopper. Easy to learn and has very good campaign. Recently they implemented sling load operations, but it's still WIP

F-15C: DCS Flaming Cliffs A-10A: DCS Flaming Cliffs Su-25: DCS Flaming Cliffs have advanced flight model and are part of DCS: Flaming Cliffs 3 (FC3). You can buy those three ('modules') separately or buy whole package DCS: Flaming Cliffs 3 (FC3) which also contains Su-27, Su-33 and Mig-29. Su-27, Su-33, Mig-29 have standard flight model. Su-27 soon will get advanced flight model. -

No, it's different aircraft. Still on FC3 level (no clickable cockpit). Sometimes called Su-25A to avoid confusion from "T" -
If you are going to spend some money, read this: DCS Product Terms

Striking difference? Damage model :) I made a switch (well, not permanent) and eventually bought everything for DCS. Choppers are unbeatable and you don't have to shoot stuff to make use of them. Try it yourself. DCS is free. You get free su-25T and p-51 TF Mustang. Su-25T has simplified cockpit (not clickable) but very complex flight model. Free Mustang has fully functional, clickable cockpit, but disabled weapons (in free version). Cockpit is a bit sterile, compared to A2A, but again - complex flight model.

FSX with DirectX 10 artifacts
MariuszDW replied to pokmahpok's topic in DX-10 Discussions, Hints and Help
I'm not going back. I also play other games. On cat. 14.4 I get 50% more fps in DCS World. And P3D on AMD is insanely smooth and looks fantastic, compared to FSX. Huge improvement. -
FSX with DirectX 10 artifacts
MariuszDW replied to pokmahpok's topic in DX-10 Discussions, Hints and Help
I have this problem since windows 8 update to 8.1 DX10 was my choice because it runs smoother (AMD R290), looks better, and I could use AA with SweetFX. Now SweetFX doesn't allow DX10 (no option in FSX), and when I get rid of it and use vanilla DX10, I get artifacts. I can only use DX9 without AA, otherwise SweetFX won't work. Well, it's time to try P3D. I heard it looks on AMD cards a lot better then FSX. -
Most recent: 1. Su-25: DCS Flaming Cliffs (version for DCS World) 2. CaptainSim 737 3. Aerosoft - Twin Otter X Extended 4. Aerosoft - Bronco X 5. SibWings Antonov An-2 To do list: 1. DCS: Mi-8MTV2 (hoping, it will be released this week) 2. A2A C172 Trainer

Can I get some quick reviews on CS 737 base pack?
MariuszDW replied to Nathan3219's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Bought 737 yesterday. Looks nice but I prefer 707 -
They have it covered in knowledge base I load a2a p51 in cnd and switch to js41 (result is: engines off, electricity on), and quickly enable start locks
-
I have one (or two) issue. 1. PMDG JS41 livery installers crash during decompression. Didn't bother to investigate. 2 (fixed). Missing font (quartz.ttf) in PMDG MD-11. This was fixed with help of PMDG support (Ryan Maziarz). I am not sure this was win8 issue as I googled a few font problems with this add-on in Win7. Beside that, MD-11 works great on Win8 Didn't notice any other issues, but truth is, most of my stuff was installed on Windows 7 x64 and later I decided to upgrade to Win 8 x64 pro. I was too lazy for clean installation (and had quite an ordeal reinstalling FSX on Win7).

T5 temperatures - I see they vary in different altitudes / ambient temperatures / rpm settings, but not necessarily in different speeds. Is this correct? I realy like this aircraft. Currently I fly it simultaneously with aerosoft pby-5 catalina, a2a p51 civ, b377 and captainsim B707 Looking forward to updated sounds. And floats!

All new to DX10 and need some help...
MariuszDW replied to WebMaximus's topic in DX-10 Discussions, Hints and Help
That's interesting. I switched to DX10 (HD7950) just because I could use SweetFX with AA enabled (and see cockpit shadows in SibWings AN-2). In DX9 I had to choose AA or SweetFX. -
And other modes (campaign, single mission, editor)? Mine was crashing on loading one mission (for Huey) downloaded from DCS forum. Beside that, runs smoothly.
