  1. Hi I was happily flying with FSX and W10 for years using the Logitech G940 force feedback gear. Then came W11 and MSFS2020 and I decided to upgrade my hardware so I could switch to W11. My current setup is therefore as follows: Mobo: MSI B550 GAMING PLUS CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Mem: 16Gb Corsair Vengeance Graphic: Radeon RX 560 Windows 11 22H2 First disappointment: the G940 did not work with MSFS2020. I decided to give the Saitek flight system a try and bought a Saitek Flight Yoke and pedals as well as two panels, a multipanel and a switch panel. I struggled for quite a while now but could not get the stuff to work correctly. Apart from some glitches and a real difficulty in controlling the plane, there are also issues with the display panels, namely I can undock them to my second display but cannot properly interact with them. In FSX I could change the map view of the Garmin glass panel, zoom in and out of the map and generally interact with most of the controls. This doesn’t seem to work any more in MSFS2020. After trying with no results to get some help I decided to give the Saitek system a try on FSX. So, after making an image of my C drive so I could easily go back and forth, I uninstalled MSFS2020 and removed all drivers then went back to FSX. However, the Saitek panels are not recognized and so far all my efforts of getting them to work failed. I tried the Saitek drivers and also SPAD. In FSX when I go to the control setting, I can only see the Yoke and the pedals, the multipanel in completely inoperant. This is really extremely frustrating and I really hope someone can put me on the right track. It seems that hoping for some support from either Saitek or Logitech is quite illusory, so hopefully I can find someone on the forum who can help.
  2. Finally got my Saitek/Logitech Flight system up and running, including the Autopilot panel (after some useful tips from Logitech) and started experimenting flying. Found a strange behaviour of the yoke: when I turn the wheel just a little too far the plane suddenly goes into a full bank as if I'd turned the wheel all the way, which I didn't. It's quite difficult recovering, have to turn the wheel all the way in the opposite direction to recover from what turns into a dive. Never had anything like that in all the years of flying on FSX with a Logitech G940. Any suggestion at some settings for the yoke for example would be most welcome. One of the things I had to do to get the Multipanel to work is to connect it directly to a USB3 at the back of the PC and not to the Yoke itself. Looks like the USB concentrator on the yoke doesn't supply enough power. I finally bought a USB Powered splitter with 4 USB ports, connected that to the USB3.2 connector on the MB, while the Yoke is connected to a USB3.0, the Multipanel and the Pedals are connected to that USB hub.
  3. Thanks Steve, Are you referring to FSX as the Flight Sim? In that case this is the confirmation I was looking for that a 4k monitor can be hooked up to FSX. However I will probably have to wait a little for the 4k TVs to drop in price as I will most certainly also need to upgrade my PC, most importantly my video card which is not up to it right now.
  4. Nugat, I agree with you and it's what I told my neighbour. I guess it all comes down to pixel size. They are starting to make monitors larger than 27" now but what I'm most interested in is to find out if the new 4k TVs will work with Microsoft FSX and if that will enable us to have even nicer setups for Flight Simulation. I can imagine a 40 or even 50" curved 4k television as my main monitor, that would certainly beat any of the 3-monitor layouts that some people use... Guess this should make a good topic for FSX forum
  5. I posted it on the FSX because I believe it's related to FSX rather than display/graphic cards but it could usefully be on both
  6. My neighbour has a similar setup to mine for FSX. I use 2 monitors, one 24" for the instruments, ATC, etc. and a 27" for the main screen. Both are set to HD and picture quality with MS2 sceneries is excellent. My neighbour however decided on a 40" HD TV as the main screen. He also has a Saphire graphic card and HDMI connection to the TV. But the quality of the picture is really poor as if the definition was distinctly lower. The settings for both Display 0 and Display 1 are 1920x1080x32 just like mine. My first thought was a problem with the TV itself but other simulators like Dirt3 show a perfecly clear and crisp picture. Has anybody had a similar problem or have an idea as to what the problem could be? Very thankful for any help.
  7. I use a dedicated monitor for instruments when flying. With a G1000 equipped plane such as the Mooney, I open the main panel, reduce it a little then add 3 more windows (MFD, Radio and ATC). However, whenever I click in the main panel it comes to the foreground and covers the other windows. I saw an article by the late (regretted) OPA entitled <Keeping PopUp windows visible when changing views> and thought that might be the answer but it's not so. Is there a way to either force the main panel always to the back or force the other windows to always stay on top?
  8. I'm currently flying around over Belgium and so far everything looks absolutely great. I had already the Megascenery Brussels installed as well as the AEHDX airpot enhancer. Doesn't seem to be any conflict. Thanks a lot to all involved in this project. Kudos to you! :clapping:
  9. Hi Gerard, must have been very tired yesterday evening as I see I wrote some nonsense. I meant FilZip and not Filezilla, of course. Filzip is too old and doesn't work well on multiple rar files. 7z seems to be OK and this time when I selected all 3 files the unpacking went well with no errors and created just 2 folders containing each a scenery and a texture folder. So the only remaining question is to know if I leave the afcad folder separate and add it to the library like the other 2
  10. Just tried 7z and this time all 3 files were extracted but for part2 and part3 I got errors as shown below: in part2: wrong data in file 'Belgium_2012\scenery\Area_Lp2_SnapOff_N050404356_N050251297_E004114159_E004322085.bgl' file is corrupted. This file appears in the scenery folder with size 0. CRC fail in file 'Brussels HD\scenery\Area_Lp1_SnapOff_N050580708_N050501251_E004105092_E004223171.bgl' file is corrupted. This file appears in the scenery folder with size 72.163 Kb in part3: wrong data in file 'Brussels HD\scenery\Area_Lp1_SnapOff_N050580708_N050501251_E004105092_E004223171.bgl' file is corrupted. This is the same file that was reported as CRC fail in part2 and here it appears in the scenery folder with size 0. In part3 there is a Belgium_2012\scenery and \texture folder but both are empty. Not sure if these will cause any problems. If they could, maybe we can have these files separately as they are relatively small ? Sorry to ask ( :( ) but since I'm not yet very experienced with these installations I'd like to check if I understand correctly: I should create 2 folders called Belgium 2012 and Brussels HD each containing a scenery and a texture folder. The Belgium 2012\scenery folder should containall the .bgl files from the Belgium 2012\scenery folders in parts 1,2 and 3. The Belgium 2012\texture folder all the .agn and .bmp files from the Belgium 2012\texture folders in parts 1,2 and 3. The same for the Brussels HD\scenery and Brussels HD\texture folders. Then I will add these to the library in the usual way. I also downloaded the AFCAD files which give a Belgie2012 afcads\scenery folder containing .bgl files. Should these be kept separately and added to the scenery library or are they to be added to one of the other scenery folders of Brussels HD or Belgium 2012 ? Sorry again for the bother but I do look forward to enjoying this scenery. Thanks a lot Gerard, just saw your reply. I should have remembered that I have to select all the RAR files at once but I don't do it very often so I forgot. See my previous post about some errors I got when using 7z. I will try FileZilla again and see if that still gives me these errors, but I would really appreciate help witht the questions I have about how to install the files.
  11. Hi, I'm a little confused. I downloaded 3 files Project Belgium 2012.part1.rar contains Belgium 2012/Scenery Project Belgium 2012.part2.rar contains Belgium 2012/Scenery, Belgium 2012/texture and Brussels HD/scenery Project Belgium 2012.part3.rar contains Brussels HD/scenery and Brussels HD/texture this gave me 2 files of exactly 1.953.126 Kb and one file of 88.531 Kb part 1 I extracted with Filzip with no problem and it gave me 19.523 files in Belgium 2012 and 3 files in Brussels HD (+ a readme file) Part 2 and part 3 I was unable to extract. Although in Filzip I could see all the files were there the extract just didn't work. Any idea what may be different in those files to cause them to do this? Also, do I need to extract then into a different folder or into the same folders as in part1 ? If I point to the same folder Filzip asks me if I want to overwrite the existing folder. Thanks in advance for any help...
  12. I'd like to see better support for some specific gear, Just as an example the Logitech G940 (probably not the best and certainly not the most sophisticated but the only one I know with Force Feedback) has three trim wheels but only one is supported currently (elevator)
